NEET UG, NEET PG & AIIMS (INI-CET) 2026 — Medical Entrance Guide
NEET UG is the sole gateway to MBBS/BDS/AYUSH admission nationwide — including AIIMS, which has had no separate UG entrance since 2020. NEET PG is the separate postgraduate medical entrance. AIIMS PG runs as its own distinct exam called INI-CET.
- *Key clarification: "AIIMS entrance exam" means two DIFFERENT things — AIIMS UG = NEET UG (no separate test since 2020); AIIMS PG = INI-CET (a separate, still-active exam)
- NEET UG: 180 MCQs/720 marks, +4/-1, no upper age limit (removed 2022)
- NEET PG 2026: pattern CHANGED — 180 MCQs (down from 200) in 5 timed sections, 720 marks (down from 800), CBT mode
- NEET UG 2026 was cancelled and re-conducted (21 June 2026) after a paper leak — 11.21 lakh of ~20 lakh candidates qualified
- INI-CET runs twice yearly (Jan & Jul sessions), 200 MCQs, 3 hours, via aiimsexams.ac.in
The original 3 May 2026 exam was cancelled by NTA due to a leak and re-conducted 21 June 2026 ("Re-NEET"). Result declared 16 July 2026. This is a significant, recent event worth noting, though not independently confirmed against a primary NTA press release.

Is there a separate AIIMS entrance exam for MBBS?
No — AIIMS MBBS admission has been fully merged into NEET UG since 2020. There is no standalone AIIMS UG entrance anymore.
How do I get into AIIMS for postgraduate studies?
Via INI-CET (Institute of National Importance Combined Entrance Test), a separate exam conducted by AIIMS Delhi twice yearly — NOT NEET PG, which is for other NMC-recognized colleges.
Is there an age limit for NEET UG?
No — the upper age limit was removed by the NMC in March 2022 and upheld by the Supreme Court.
Sources
The AIIMS UG=NEET UG / AIIMS PG=INI-CET distinction is well-established and important to preserve exactly — it is the single biggest source of confusion in this space. Exact NEET PG percentile cutoffs and the 2026 paper-leak narrative are secondary-sourced; primary NTA/NBEMS sites were unreachable during research.
